About KEEN London

KEEN London is a small but growing charity. Our vision is that every child has the chance to enjoy games and leisure activities and none are left behind due to disability.

We provide free games and activity sessions with one to one support to children with special educational needs and disabilities. Over 100 families across London are members of the KEEN family and we provide more than 6,000 hours of supported care to disabled children every year.

Since March 2020, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic we have adapted our service to deliver a range of new projects including online sessions, one-to-one supported video calls and smaller outdoor group sessions.

Role Description:

Every week 20 children (‘athletes’) aged 5-12 attend a 2 hour KEEN London sports and games session and are supported 1:1 by our team of volunteer coaches. These children have a wide range of disabilities and additional needs, with a high proportion being autistic. As the Coordinator you will have overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of these sessions, working directly with our athletes and their families and supervising a team of volunteer coaches.

This project is our first pilot for our new organisational strategy, therefore we need someone who is able to use their initiative to develop and deliver innovative solutions and be responsive to challenges as they arise. The role will include assisting with sourcing a suitable venue, creating new resources, purchasing equipment and recruiting new athlete beneficiaries from an existing waiting list. You will also need to work closely with our other Coordinators to deliver our new service delivery model as well as our school holiday, alumni and residential projects.

Thanks to all of you at Keen for giving me as a parent, an opportunity to say how grateful we are for the respite we get every Saturday. It has transform our Saturday’s. We started coming to the session at the start of 2014 and we have rarely missed any sessions. My daughter who has autism and muscle dystrophy enjoys going and looks forward to the jam packed activities which are always fun and talks about them endlessly. The coaches are all very experience and help the kids and encourages them to get involve or just talk to them and listen. In the summer my daughter went to her first residential trip for 2 days. She had so much fun and still talks about it to this day. They also went to the Aquarium and soft play. Thank you all for your support.
