May 19 was a beautifully sunny day for those of us that cheered from the cheer point and greeted our amazing runners at the finish. It was a probably a little on the warm side for the actual runners but to be honest we only saw smiles (you can see for yourself in the photos below).
The Hackney half is the one sporting event that KEEN London really gets involved with and thanks to our brilliant runners and volunteers we got to be a part of the fun this year with our tent perfectly positioned to greet our finishers! For many of our team it was not the first time taking part which shows how quickly those blisters fade and memories are quickly replaced by the masses of cheering crowds, iconic scenery and music along the way.
Our team of 30 runners joined 17,000 runners in one of the most popular half marathons in the country. Raising an impressive £11,000 between them and promoting our work for 13.1 miles around Hackney with their KEEN running shirts! Thank you runners for doing us proud and thank you to everyone that joined us to cheer them on and speak to the many visitors to our stall. We certainly stood out this year with our hula hoopers (thank you Majorettes for grabbing the attention of passers by) our team of face painters raising even more money and our flyer and sticker givers who made sure that everyone on Hackney Marshes got to know about KEEN London.
If you are inspired to try next year it is never too early to register your interest and start training. Just give firstname.lastname@example.org a message now and we can get you in the team!
